Impact damages are probably the least understood type of construction claims. When owners and contractors discuss construction claims, issues mentioned center on poor design, change orders, site conditions, and delays. When the discussion turns to damages, the focus is on labor cost, time extensions, extended overheads, etc. All too often, owners and contractors fail to raise the issue of impact damages. Impact damages are the downstream effects of adverse events on a project that are not typically compensated for in change orders. This webinar discusses typical causes of impact damages and the elements of proof necessary to recover impact damage claims. As impact events arise on a project, the webinar covers how to calculate the loss of productivity and use the productivity loss in preparing productivity impact schedule updates.
